File Preview
Preview uploaded files directly in the Documents app without leaving your browser.
When you open an uploaded file (rather than an editor document), the center panel displays a built-in viewer instead of the rich text editor. The type of viewer depends on the file format.
PDF Preview
PDF files render in a built-in viewer that lays out every page in a single scrollable column. Scroll vertically to move through the document. The viewer focuses on distraction-free reading — there are no zoom or print controls in the viewer. To zoom or print, download the file and open it in your PDF application.
Image Preview
Image files (JPG, PNG, GIF, SVG, WEBP) display fit-to-container in the center panel:
- The image scales to fit the available space
- Support for animated GIFs
- A Download button to save the original file
Video Preview
Video files (MP4, MOV, AVI, WEBM) open in a native HTML5 video player with standard controls:
- Play/pause
- Volume control
- Fullscreen mode
- Seek bar for navigation
Other File Types
For file types without a built-in viewer (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, ZIP, etc.), a file information card is displayed with the file name, type, and size. Use the download button to open these files in their native application.
Download Button
A Download button is available for all file types, allowing you to save any file to your computer regardless of whether a preview is available.
Right Panel
The right panel continues to show the same tabs as for editor documents:
| Tab | Contents |
|---|---|
| Comments & Issues | Linked issues and inline comments |
| History | Version history (each entry is an uploaded version) |
| Related | Cross-references to issues, meetings, and milestones |
| Outline | Table of contents (for editor documents) |
| AI | Document AI assistant |
You can add tags (in the document cover header), link to project items, and view version history under the History tab for uploaded files just as you would for editor documents.
